The Doors Are Opening Again — But Something Bigger Was Being Rebuilt All Along

I put up that sign six months ago: "Nick the Greek is closed for renovation. We apologize for the inconvenience. We will see you soon." Truth is, the renovation wasn’t just for the grills or the walk-in or the signage.
It was for me.
When I shut down my three Nick The Greek restaurants on November 6th, it was because something inside me was breaking. I didn’t just need a contractor. I needed clarity, space, and honestly... healing.

And now, here we are. Six months later. On May 13th, the State Line store at Ward Parkway Mall is reopening. Lee’s Summit and Olathe are following right behind.
This reopening isn’t a business move. It’s a heart move.
I’ve walked through each one of those stores with a mop, a paintbrush, and a prayer. I’ve taken out trash, replaced equipment, retrained staff, and in the quiet moments — I’ve re-trained myself. To lead better. To love the work again. To serve people like it’s my calling.
So if you’re in Kansas City and you see our doors open again — come through. Bring your hunger. Bring your family. Bring your hope.
We’re back. But not as we were.
We’re better.
